This role sits in the Cultural Services branch and plays a key part in promoting the library as a cultural and educational hub for the Subiaco community.

Job Description

The successful applicant for this role must be available to work Monday to Thursday 09:30-13:00 and Friday 09:00-13:00 (0.47 FTE).

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Staff the front desk and perform all associated duties.
  • Provide reference and information services to answer direct reader enquiries.
  • Advise and assist the public in operation library equipment.
  • Advise and assist the public over lost and damaged items, overdue items, membership details and general service matters.
  • Shelve items and maintain general order and tidiness of shelves and library.
  • Assist as required in all public functions conducted by the library.
  • Assist in other clerical job areas as required.
  • Process and maintain front desk procedures and tasks.

Essential criteria

  • High level of customer service skills.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of library service procedures.
  • Working knowledge of common reference tools.
  • Well-developed ability to use Microsoft Office software.
  • Commitment to obtain a Working with Children Clearance, Police Certificate, Responsible Service of Alcohol and Food Handling qualifications, if required.

The successful candidate must also be available to work during the times and days stated above.

Salary package

From $73,715 to $81,411 per annum pro rata, plus 11.5% employer superannuation and additional co-contribution to your superannuation.
