Job Description

An exiting permanent, full-time opportunity has become available for a Truck Driver General Hand to join our small, but mighty, Waste team. The City proudly delivers FOGO, General Waste and Recycling services to our residents rain, hail or shine. 

Join a small group of committed hard-working individuals who take pride in delivering what we consider to be the best residential waste service available. You will drive, you will be on foot collecting and you will repair and maintain bins all while contributing towards the City of Subiaco's goal of minimising waste to landfill, recycling and reducing emissions. 

Safety is paramount, so your experience with SWPS's, Take 5's, Pre & Post Vehicle Checks, Incident and Hazard Reporting, in any industry, will be an advantage. 

In this role, the successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the City in providing sustainable, effective and efficient waste management services to our community.  

The key responsibilities of this role including:

  • Driving waste trucks to each address within a prescribed area and collecting refuse/recyclables/FOGO
  • Emptying the truck at the transfer station
  • To carry out bin maintenance, repairs and replacements
  • Collection and emptying of parks and street waste bins
  • To undertake risk management and safety control measures
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of your teammates, ensure PPE is worn at all times and follow all WHS policies and procedures.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current Australian HR licence
  • Minimum two years operating this type of vehicle or similar in any industry
  • High level of physical fitness
  • Sound interpersonal and team skills
  • Flexible work approach and a commitment to becoming multi-skilled
  • Self-motivation and capacity to work under pressure
  • Sound knowledge of safe manual handling techniques
  • Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety requirements

Desirable:

  • Senior First Aid certificate
  • Manual Handling experience

Salary range:

From $79,928.21 to $81,872.99 per annum, exclusive of superannuation - commensurate with experience.
