The successful candidate will join the team at Lords Recreation Centre and will be responsible for the development and continual improvement of Lords' indoor social sport competitions, facility operations and maintenance, and will support the Centre with facility bookings and administration.
The key responsibilities of this role will be to:
- Lead, direct and guide the Programs and Facilities team to achieve goals.
- Drive team performance by fostering initiative, innovation and accountability.
- Oversee recruitment, induction, training and performance appraisal to build capability
- Manage workload, wellbeing and engagement to sustain a high-performing team.
- Oversee the operation of the indoor sports competition including all staffing requirements, incident investigations and equipment maintenance and replacement.
- Make recommendations to the Manager Recreation Services on the appropriate sanctions and penalties to individual players and/or teams in the competition.
- Maximise hire opportunities for all areas of Lords with a particular focus on the attraction and retention of new hirers delivering a range of unique services.
- Maximise and explore opportunities for off-peak court utilization.
- Ensure excellent customer service is provided for Lords events and functions.
- Ensure all hirers are invoiced in a timely manner and that outstanding balances are paid in full.
- Manage contracts for the provision of goods and services to the centre while ensuring that they are delivered safely.
- Develop and maintain detailed cleaning schedules including daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.
- All other duties as required.

Essential criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in Recreation or related field.
- Knowledge and understanding of sport and recreation, or similar industries with a commercial focus.
- Demonstrated contract management skills and an ability to problem solve logistical issues related to maintenance and service provision.
- Demonstrated experience in the operation and supervision of recreation, community, and aquatic facilities.
- Proven leadership experience with demonstrated self-motivation, strong interpersonal and organisation skills, and an ability to motivate others.
- Detailed knowledge of financial practices with an ability to compile, monitor and adhere to budgets.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
- Computer literacy skills.
- Strong communication skills in both oral and written, including research, report writing, public speaking and presentations.
- Demonstrated understanding of the operation and hire of community facilities by public user groups.
- Ability to develop and foster positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to assist in the smooth effective operation of Lords Recreation Centre.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Maintained First Aid certificate.
- Driver’s Licence.
Salary package:
In line with the City of Subiaco Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025, this position is classified as a Level 7. The salary range is $111,072.00 to $119,028.00 per annum, exclusive of superannuation.
