A fantastic full-time permanent opportunity is available for a Parks General Hand to join our dynamic Arborist team within the Parks and Environment branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a high-quality environment through the establishment and maintenance of the city’s Parks, Reserves and Streetscapes.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Participate in proactive tree maintenance
- Contribute towards quality outcomes including recognising, reporting and correcting quality deviations and/or faults within the work site commensurate with your level of employment
- Participate in the development and implementation of tree maintenance strategies in conjunction with the Team and the Team Leader
- Participate in the development and implementation of maintenance programmes in conjunction with the Team and Precinct Team Leader
- Participate in the implementation of capital work projects as required
- Comply with Council’s relevant policies and procedures
- Operate a wide range of horticultural equipment and machinery (e.g. chain saws, pole saws, blowers etc)
- Operate council vehicles
- Ability to take and follow instructions
- Being responsible for the quality and completion of own tasks
- Contribute to the promotion of a safe working environment within the City of Subiaco
- Report all hazards and near misses to the Team Leader when handling materials and operating tools, equipment, vehicles and plant when carrying out tasks relating to this position
- Comply with WHS Act, Work Safe and all relevant requirements
- Participate in training/development activities to improve personal and team knowledge and service provision
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position

Essential criteria:
- Completed or studying towards an appropriate qualification or equivalent industry experience
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Skills and knowledge in the use of a wide range of horticultural equipment and machinery
- Basic oral and written literacy and numeracy skills
- Working knowledge of Work Health and Safety
- Experience in tree management essential
- Current MR class WA driver's licence as a minimum
- Chainsaw certification
Desirable:
- Basic Traffic Management certification
- Senior First Aid
- Heavy Rigid vehicle licence
Salary package:
In line with the City of Subiaco Operational Staff Industrial Agreement 2025, this position is classified as a Level T2. The salary range is $79,928.21 to $81,872.99, exclusive of superannuation.
