Job Description

This position is focused on enhancing Subiaco as a place for our community – a place that is welcoming, attractive, full of life and is authentically Subiaco. The role provides an engaging, and fast paced environment where you will collaborate across the organisation, gaining knowledge of processes across a variety of local government areas.

The successful applicant will be experienced in high quality and timely delivery of projects with the ability to influence change and foster collaboration. Additionally, they will demonstrate the City’s values of Supportive, United, Bold and Impactful.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Support the Senior Place Officer in the delivery of a range of public realm upgrades, from small laneways to larger pedestrianised spaces and streets. This will include:
    • Detailed record keeping,
    • Proactive communication and relationship building with internal and external project stakeholders,
    • Supporting delivery of both broad and targeted community engagement programs, and
    • Preparing reports for the City’s leadership team, and for Council.
  • Audit existing streetscapes to identify opportunities to enhance Subiaco’s character and vibrancy.
  • Promote a Place-led approach to project management by advocating for Place philosophy and leading by example.
  • Foster cross-team collaboration across the organisation through proactive communication and relationship building.
  • Foster relationships with community groups and businesses to enable public activations and entertainment.
  • Contribute to the city’s Economic Development and Place team’s planning, processes and innovation.
  • Any other duties as required.

Essential criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in a related field or equivalent experience in either Project Management, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Community Development, or related discipline.
  • An understanding of strategies to enhance public spaces as well as an understanding of the current economic, planning and design challenges facing inner city town centres.
  • Passionate about the future of cities, town centres, retail, communities, destinations, and places.
  • Experience in building partnerships and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high capacity for decision-making skills, initiative, creative approaches to problem solving, and working collaboratively.

Salary package:

From $86,452.08 to $96,200 per annum, exclusive of superannuation.
