Job Description

This role sits in the Waste and Infrastructure Maintenance Branch and provides technical support and advice on public open space management. 

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Develop and implement effective strategies to provide professional horticultural management
  • Assist the Coordinator to prepare, supervise and oversee technical maintenance programs for the City’s parks and reserves
  • Contribute technical expertise to maintenance programs and forward work plans
  • Regularly review, develop and update technical specifications, safety procedures and work practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery
  • Research and maintain the sections technical library information for the provision of best practice advice and information on horticultural maintenance and management
  • Assist the Coordinator in the provision of leadership, direction, guidance and support to the section
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of projects of the park’s capital improvements program as part of the management team as required
  • Develop and review specifications for contracted works

Essential criteria

  • A high level of organisational ability in planning, prioritising, budget management and achieving outcomes to deadlines.
  • Highly developed and proven interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, develop and maintain new systems, strategies and procedures.
  • Supervisory ability that includes contracts and budget management.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Advanced ability to use corporate computer systems.
  • Relevant tertiary level qualifications in horticulture or environment management and/or relevant work experience.
  • Current C class WA drivers’ licence or higher.
  • Desirable: Basic Traffic Management certification and a Senior First Aid certificate.

Salary Package

From $95,555 to $103,199 per annum pro rata, plus 11.5% employer superannuation and additional co-contribution to your superannuation.
