Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available in our Cultural Services branch for a Community Development Officer on a fixed-term part-time basis (approx. 12 months) - 3/4 days per week (approx. 25hrs).

In this role, the successful applicant will work to develop and implement a range of programs, initiatives and events that are responsive to the diverse needs of the Subiaco community across the areas of Safety and Wellbeing, Youth Children and Families, Social Inclusion, Community Events and Positive Ageing.

Additionally, the successful candidate will uphold and consistently demonstrate the City's values of Respect, Integrity, Customer Service and Team Work. 

The key responsibilities of this role:

  • Program and Project Management - undertake or assist with the development and facilitation of community development strategies and initiatives relating to portfolio responsibilities.
  • Community development and engagement - act as the city’s first point of contact for all matters relating to portfolio responsibilities
  • Develop, promote and facilitate community education opportunities.
  • Form and maintain strong relationships or partnerships with other City branches, community and stakeholder groups (including government and non-government agencies).

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Appropriate qualifications in community development or a related field or equivalent work experience. 
  • Knowledge and experience in coordinating community development programs, initiatives and events. 
  • Well-developed project management and organisational skills.
  • Highly developed verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written communication and report writing skills.
  • Well-developed facilitation and consultation skills, with experience engaging government agencies, industry groups, community organisations and the community, including community members from diverse or marginalise backgrounds. 
  • Experience in supervising or working with volunteers.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Working with Children Clearance (current).

Salary Range: $41.18 to $44.63 per hour plus 11% employer superannuation and additional co-contribution to your superannuation.
